Extends functionality of Q to address inventory flow and optimize supply chain support for stores

CARLSBAD, Calif., Jan. 15, 2007 - Quantum Retail Technology announced today that their flagship solution Q has been enhanced with functionality to support long-range inventory forecasting and order planning. Quantum Retail Technology, in partnership with Guitar Center, designed and implemented the solution as part of a three-phase inventory optimization project. They next plan to extend Q to fully support multi-level distribution and replenishment.

"The inventory flow to stores for the most recent holiday season was one of the best we've ever been able to achieve as a company," said Guitar Center Executive Vice President and General Merchandise Manager Jay Wannamaker. "We can directly attribute much of this success to our work with Quantum Retail and their solution, Q."

Q for Advanced Order Planning and Forecasting allows retailers to better predict, manage and flow inventory need based on a multi dimensional view of store-item level behavior. By continuously optimizing inventory need in relation to merchandise and assortment goals and supply chain constraints, retailers can take a proactive approach to extracting the highest level of potential sales and profit from their inventory investment.

"Many retail industry analysts have gone on the record about the expected growth of the retail advanced inventory planning market and of the benefits of looking beyond a single order cycle when planning store level inventory need," said Chris Allan, vice president product strategy for Quantum Retail. "Q now offers a practical roadmap that allows retailers to extract these benefits without the pain and costs of replacing existing systems."

Q is available as an annual subscription and Quantum Retail offers low-impact pilots to ensure value delivery, alignment of investment to benefits and rapid ROI. Q can be deployed in either hosted or customer deployed environments.
